10 Term Paper Title Examples For College Students

As a college student, you will be given plenty of assignments to work on. Sometimes, the assignments will be formative, which means it is not marked. These assignments won’t affect your grades, but it is good for your own learning. But most of the time you will be given summative assessments and they count towards your degree.

Term papers are an example of summative assessment and you need to know what you are doing! Although all subjects are different, but the way you structure your title should be similar. Here are a few examples to get you started:

Short title

Your title should be as short as possible. That doesn’t mean to go for a ‘one-word title’, but it has to be informative as well. Think of something creative and descriptive in as few words as possible.

Get an important phrase as part of your title

Whatever you are doing for your term paper, you can definitely find an important quote or phrase. Use that (should be just a few words, no more than 10) to attract your readers’ attention.

Catchy

It has to be very catchy if you want someone to read your term paper. Although the content is extremely important, the title’s name should not be overlooked. It may need some revision, but you should ask people whether your title is catch or not.

Appeal to your audience

You have to know who your readers are going to be first, because if you don’t, chances are that you are not going to develop a great title!

Define the theme

Think about the theme and what it implies. Then you can think of an appropriate title name for your term paper. It shouldn’t take too long here.

Descriptive

Although the title has to be short, it should be very descriptive as well. It needs to be able to tell the audience what you are trying to present and what your arguments are based upon.

Could be metaphoric

Sometimes, the title for your paper does not have to be exactly what is talking about. As long as your phrase delivers the meaning, you could use metaphors.

Be Creative!

Think outside the box now. Your title does not have to be traditional and conventional, rather it could catch the eyes of many more if you use some innovative words and phrases in your title.

Easy to understand

Readers should know what you are talking about when they first glance the title.

Relates to your topic

Your title must reflect the paper’s content. If it doesn’t, it would raise unnecessary questions about your work and it could be problematic!
